Facilitators ’11

Riyana SweetwaterMoon has been making magic with the Reclaiming Community for thirteen years, when she first stepped through the spiral portal as a young woman at California Camp. Like many Geminis, she has a diverse array of interests that she enjoys weaving into her priestessing work: the magic of song and dance, herbalism, women’s blood mysteries, sacred sexuality, street activism and shamanism. She also enjoys incorporating the magic of other mystical traditions (with reverence and respect) into her work. She holds a Master’s degree in Women’s Spirituality from Naropa Unversity, and works as a bodyworker, herbalist and childbirth doula in her local community. Her daily practice incorporates writing, music, yoga, and immersing herself in nature. She has taught and organized for six years with Free Activist Witchcamp, worked with young adults at Teen Earth Magic and Witchlets, and regularly teaches classes within the San Francisco Bay Area community and at other witchcamps across the country. When not hanging out with witches in the woods or by the waters, she can often be found taking a nap in the sun with her cat, Emily Moon.

Laura Maples:  I was born in the Appalachain mountains of North Carolina of Cherokee heritage and trained as a Cherokee medicine priestess devoting myself to the Great Spirit and all her beings and ceremonies. The story of the Star Goddess and Miriah have parallels throughout Cherokee medicine and I am enjoying the discovery of the “twisted hair” of the Native American traditions and the Native European traditions.

I am dedicated to the healing of the ourselves, each other and the Earth. I teach the core Reclaiming classes, magical activism and workshops in sacred sexuality. I am a Reiki Master and a registered nurse for over 20 yrs in the intensive care unit . I have taught multiple healing modalities including Middle Eastern dance (belly dance), Herbalism, Reiki, dreaming, gardening, loving and ritual priestessing skills. I love community building  and have an adventurous spirit for the unknown.

I have organized and taught witchcamps for over a decade now. Magic is the transformative, fulfilling work of my passion. It is my soul’s desire to see people discover their own inner magic and learn to weave it with others. I practice daily to beautifully balance my intentions for self-care with those intentions to affect change in this world. I look forward to working with each one of you at some point in my life.

c. eddy: I am a queer witch, storyteller, radical mama, and poet-priestess. I answer an Ancient Mother’s call to meditate with my eyes wide open, hear poetry in whispering leaves, learn from my children, speak my truth, and work for peace and justice one homemade granola bar at a time. My witchy roots go back over 20 years to a circle of strong Dianic women and a deep-seeded commitment to living my belief in an immanent Goddess.  I came into Reclaiming through the pagan cluster in 2002 and still have a deep love of sidewalk chalk, street magic, and meals shared out of potluck backpacks.  In my priestessing work, I have facilitated public rituals and workshops in the spirit of service with the belief that together we can change the worlds. I enjoy blending poetic spoken word with magic to create invocations, spellwork, and rhythmic trance.  I love using improvisation to create spaces where communities can co-create magic and move energy in suprising and supportive ways. These days the mystery of language calls ever more loudly to my soul.  I am awed by the power of words to shape our very reality. This magic moves me to study the interplay of communication between self, others and the world as I look for ways and words to connect more fully with life in all its chaos and beauty.
